Pittsfield Selects Inaugural Artist-In-Residence at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts
The City of Pittsfield announces its inaugural artist-in-residence, Carly Holmes. Carly will be working out of a studio at the city-owned Lichtenstein Center for the Arts. The artist-in-residence program offers an exciting opportunity for Carly to gain creative space and exposure while engaging with the local arts community. The program provides a free 6-month studio space at the Lichtenstein and includes a culminating group exhibition in October 2025, giving the resident artist a platform to showcase their work alongside the other artists at the Lichtenstein. Carly will also be the “Art in the Park” artist during First Fridays at Five on September 5.
“This residency is designed to foster artistic development and collaboration,” Pittsfield Mayor Peter Marchetti said. “It allows the artist to focus on creating new work or refining existing pieces while interacting with arts professionals. It’s a wonderful chance to immerse oneself in the vibrant arts community of Pittsfield and make lasting connections.”
Carly is a lifelong resident of Pittsfield and describes herself as an emerging artist with a passion for creating art.
“I have always loved creating art,” Carly says. “As a child, I was constantly drawing and crafting. I have explored drawing, ceramics, and 3-dimensional design. But painting with acrylics is where my true passion lies. I view my work as a reflection of my ever-evolving interests, and as a personal outlet for self-expression.”
The residency was open to full-time residents of Pittsfield aged 21 and over. The Lichtenstein Center for the Arts is city-owned and located in the Upstreet Cultural District, making it an ideal setting for artistic development and public engagement. For more information, go to LovePittsfield.com.
