SEPTEMBER
We Are America Too: The Journey Continues
On View September 5 – 26, 2025
Opening Reception on September 5th during the FFAF from 5-8pm
The We Are America Too / Nosotros También Somos América is a powerful exhibition featuring the artwork of more than twenty-five immigrant and first-generation American artists – local, regional and from across the U.S. – each interpreting the theme “We Are America Too” through expressions of their diverse paths of migration and belonging.
The exhibition curated by Katunemo Art & Healing, an art collective that supports immigrant artists, uplifts immigrant voices through art as a tool for resistance, healing, ancestry connection and celebration.
In a context where American identity is often reduced to narrow narratives, We Are America Too asserts: we are America too. The exhibition honors the contributions of immigrant communities to this country’s history and reclaiming the spirit of welcome as inscribed on the Statue of Liberty: recognizing migration as a universal human experience—one as old as humanity itself.
Through powerful works that reflect resilience, joy, pain, and creative strategy – artists from different countries, using different media, offer an intimate and collective reflection on what it means to belong. Aimed at global majority communities seeking representation, young people exploring their roots, educators, community leaders, and the wider public. This exhibition invites active participation: share your stories, join community programs and come support immigrant artists. Advocate for truly inclusive cultural representation.
The We Are America Too / Nosotros También Somos América is not just an exhibition—it is a living and urgent statement.
The exhibition was first presented in July 2025 at Installation Space in North Adams. Now, with the inclusion of more artists and an updated vision shaped by public participation, the exhibition is coming to Pittsfield, the heart of the Berkshires to share this experience with the more community members.
Bringing the exhibition to different parts of the county reflects Katunemo’s core value of accessibility and its ongoing commitment to making art available to all.
