10×10: Winter Tree Identification Walk with BEAT
Learn how to identify trees in all seasons with a local naturalist and tree enthusiast at Pittsfield’s Springside Park and Hebert Arboretum!
It may be surprising, but winter is a perfect time to learn to identify trees. The absence of leaves allows us to take a closer look at distinctive features that often get overlooked, like twigs, bark, and structure. Join Chelsey Simmons, programs director of Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT), to explore the many tree species found at Springside Park and get tips on how to tell them apart in winter and year-round.
This walk will be stop-and-go and outside the entire time. Please wear sturdy shoes and dress in plenty of layers. Space is limited to 10 participants, and registration is required. RSVP to receive information on where to meet—email [email protected]
