Our Friday night Supper Club tradition continues, this Friday featuring another amazing group of musicians.. Dave Bartley, a longtime favorite at Dottie’s, brings an ensemble including Charlie Tokarz, Dave Christopolis, and Tom Parker. Stop by for some fabulous music and a delightful a la carte menu. dinner, 6pm live music 7-10PM (no cover charge)
David Bartley is a jazz pianist who performs regularly in Western Mass in solo and various ensemble line ups. David’s sound is influenced by classical training in college where he gained an appreciation of Romantic, Impressionist, and 20th Century music, and a lifetime love of blues and swing music. His influences include Earl Hines, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Duke Ellington, Chet Baker, and Keith Jarrett, among many others. Yet in his sets are included blues influenced compositions by Mose Alison and others, as well as David’s original compositions and arrangements.
Charlie Tokarz Charlie Tokarz plays saxophone, flute, clarinet, and EWI. He has gone to Italy, Ireland, and Turkey with the Sister City Jazz Ambassadors. He has been in pit bands for many musicals and works as a freelance musician in various groups doing jazz, klezmer, and pop music. He plays with the American Tap Dance Foundation in New York, and has recorded world music with Nana Simopoulos, spoken word with Godfrey Nelson, and electronica with The Mclean Mix. He teaches at Hotchkiss School.
Dave Christopolis Dave Christopolis lives in Goshen, MA and is an upright and electric bassist who works as a sideman for a number of regional New England musicians. Dave studied jazz composition at Berklee College of Music. He is a recording artist for Rounder Records and Signature Sounds. Dave works with many jazz musicians and vocalists in western Massachusetts doing local gigs. Recently he began working with pianist Peggy Stern who toured with Lee Konitz and famed drummer Joe Hunt who toured with Stan Getz. When he’s not playing jazz, he often plays bass, guitar and uke supporting local singer song-writersand appears on many recordings.
Tom Parker is well known and also in great demand in the Berkshires for his incredibly fluent percussive voice in Jazz drumming. He has been on the stage at Dottie’s in several different configurations, including the Lucky Five and for many Saturday nights this past spring and summer in the Dave Bartley Jazz Quartet.
