SUMMARY:Book Signing: Sanity Made Simple
DESCRIPTION:SANITY MADE SIMPLE: Aphorisms\, Epigrams\, and Other Parsed Phrases \nThe right few words in the proper order can express a “hydrogen bomb” of insight. Among the best examples are those brief expressions that pack wisdom\, humor\, and profundity: maxims\, adages\, proverbs\, aphorisms\, and epigrams. \nCall them what you will. They point to the same thing: powerful sayings delivering a punch\, such as: “Optimism is an 80 year old signing up for swimming lessons.” These short forms deliver truth\, inspiration\, and can comment ironically on a dire situation in a manner that lets you laugh. \nSays author Dan Valenti: “I composed these sayings (240 of them) in Sanity Made Simple for you to enjoy and share\, chuckle or ponder. I’m sure you’ll find value here.” \n  \nAvailable now at Amazon Books and all Barnes & Noble Booksellers.\nJust $14.95 for the paperback … $4.95 for the ebook. \nFrom pre-release reviews: \nOrion: “This is Valenti at his cutting best” … The Berkely Review: “He drills down to the essence in these expert bits of wisdom and observation” …Books in Focus: “A book for our times. You’ll love these gems of thought.”

SUMMARY:“Art in the Park” with Peter Vacchina

Peter will be popped up in Palace Park (near 122 North Street) from 5 to 8 pm\, inviting the community to add pieces to a “made-on-the-spot” mosaic and discussing his process with all who are interested. \nPeter is a sculptor working primarily in marble\, mosaic\, and the occasional ice sculpture. Before becoming a full-time artist in Pittsfield\, Peter lived and taught science in Belgium\, Brazil\, Mexico\, England\, Italy\, and California. “I appreciate the challenge of working in marble and its potential to last for centuries. In my marble sculptures\, I seek to invoke memory in the way a scent or sound might\, and in doing so inspire heartfelt stories in the viewer.” \n“Art in the Park” is supported in part by the Feigenbaum Foundation and in part by a grant from the Mass Cultural Council\, and a grant from the Pittsfield Cultural Council\, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council\, a state agency.
