DESCRIPTION:The NAACP\, Berkshire County Branch’s annual Juneteenth celebration kicks off with a flag raising and freedom walk from City Hall to Durant Park in Pittsfield\, where festivities begin at noon. The day features live entertainment\, food\, vendors\, and family-friendly activities\, including a basketball tournament\, music\, crafts\, and free ice cream for the first 200 children\, free meals for all fathers. Highlights include a nondenominational worship service\, student scholarships ceremony\, and the unveiling of a mural honoring the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. Juneteenth\, a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans\, is also a celebration of Black culture and community.
