Berkshires Jazz has commissioned new works from ten different composers from the region, and they will be premiered at this concert.  The “house trio” of Eugene Uman, piano; Mary Ann McSweeney, bass; and Conor Meehan, drums, will perform each of these works, generally accompanied by the composer and often including or more additional musicians from the composing cadre. The participating composers represent a panoply of instruments, and range from teenaged prodigies to veteran performers and educators. They include Kris Allen, Carolyn Dufraine, Jason Ennis, Anton Kot, Daryl Lowery, Peter McEachern, Mary Ann McSweeney, Joe Smith, Richard Stanmeyer, and Eugene Uman. The concert is supported by a grant from the Mill Town Foundation.
