DESCRIPTION:Get out into the woods and make a difference for the environment by helping Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT) eradicate destructive\, invasive Hardy Kiwi at Pittsfield’s Burbank Park! Gloves and tools will be provided\, but we encourage you to bring your own if you have them (loppers\, pruning sheers\, and pruning saws). Please RSVP to team@thebeatnews.org for information on where to meet. \n\nHardy Kiwi (Actinidia arguta) is an exotic invasive ornamental vine that threatens forests in western Massachusetts by completely dominating mature trees. Once it germinates\, it climbs the surrounding vegetation and eventually kills its support. Hardy Kiwi can grow over 20 feet in a year. It has become a major problem in places such as Kennedy Park\, Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary\, and Burbank Park.
